  Aromatherapy Essential Oils

Aromatherapy essential oils is a very
important topic as essential oils are what
  aromatherapy is all about

  Essential Oils and Aromatherapy

Essential Oils is what Aromatherapy is all about. What
are Essential oils? They are oils which naturally occur
within various parts of different plants including the
bark, the stem, the fruits the flowers the leaves and
even the roots. These oils have been extracted from
the plants. It is important not to confuse
Aromatherapy Essential oils with perfumes which are
very often manufactured using a selection of synthetic
ingredients.  These synthetic ingredients to not
provide the same types benefits to the body and the
  mind.

Where are Aromatherapy essential oils found
  and how are they extracted.?

Several methods are commonly used to extract the
essential oils from the plant material. The one that is
most often used today is distillation.  This incidentally
is the oldest method and has stood the test of time.
  This involves the plant matter
being heated during
which process the volatile components are then able to
be condensed and collected from the vapors that result
  Solvent extraction, maceration, expression and
enfleurage are also methods which are used to
extract essential oils from plant matter. Something
many people don’t know and is a very interesting
aspect is that there are different qualities of essential
oils. Certainly there is no official grading system for

 these essential oils. However
how and where the plant was
grown can and does have a
 very significant affect on the
 quality of the extracted oils.
 Conditions in the environment
such as the soil quality and the
 weather will influence the
harvest as will the actual time
 when the plants are harvested
 Farming methods used during
 planting and harvesting can
have an effect as does, believe

it or not, the way the treatment of the plant material after it has been harvested.
A number of different chemical components are contained within the Essential
oils themselves and it is these chemical components that have an influence on
the various effects that the oils have on the body. This may sound dangerous,
however it isn't at all as our bodies in fact, naturally produce and utilize many of
these chemical components.  Essential Oils, first and foremost go to work on ,
stimulating our sense of smell. From there, the chemical components within the
essential oils begin to stimulate or sedate the different systems within our bodies

As an example, the chemical component ester acts as a calming agent, an anti
-fungal, a sedative and an anti-inflammatory. Esters are found in chamomile,
bergamot, lavender and sage. Again Ketones promote new growth within the
cells and help wounds to heal more quickly.  The are found in camphor, sage,
rosemary, and eucalyptus. Alcohols act as diuretics and have the effect of ,
energizing and stimulating the body. They also kill bacteria. Some of the plants
that contain alcohols are Tea tree, peppermint, rosewood, patchouli ginger, rose
   and sandalwood.

Only a small quantity of Oil is required to reap the benefits as highly
concentrated oils are produced via the methods used to extract the essential oils
from the plants. Essential oils can be expensive so often concentrated essential
oils are diluted before they are inhaled or absorbed. This naturally makes
economical sense. You will notice in the market place that very often essential
oils are sold as blends of different oils. This is a good thing as when you buy
blended essential oils you can save a good deal of money. You can also have a
great deal of fun creating your own essential oil blends as this is very easy to do.
