  Carrier Oils

play an essential role in aromatherapy. Essential
oils, which are used in aromatherapy, are diluted in
   them.

It is particularly important to dilute essential oils
when they are being used to massage the skin as
the are are highly concentrated and some of them
can be very expensive. If they were used without
diluting a considerable quantity would need to be
used and this would become very expensive. More
importantly however, if the essential oil is going to
be used for massage it is important to dilute it
first otherwise the body would not be able to
   tolerate the absorption.

It is also the case that essential oils are so much
easier to handle during a massage if they have
been diluted with a carrier oil. They are
lubricants and this allows the hands to glide freely
over the body and this in turn allows for a more
comfortable and soothing result. Otherwise during a
massage session the hands tend to stick to the skin
and drag along the top rather than run smoothly
   over the body

Another very important role that they play is
that they they aid in the essential oil's ability to
absorb deep into the skin and ultimately the blood
stream. It is also the case that essential oils absorb
much more quickly when they have been diluted.

The most effective carrier oils are nut and
vegetable oils.  In actual fact these types of carrier
oils can be used on their own without using
essential oils. However before you rush to your
kitchen cabinet and seize for the bottle of
vegetable oil that you use in your cooking, there are
a few facts you should be aware of.

Before we go any further you would be wise to put

aroma-bags - 136 x 119

aroma-soycandles - 104 x 104

aroma-bottles - 118 x 80

that bottle of vegetable cooking oil back into your
kitchen cabinet and don’t use it for anything but cooking. Why? Because they go through a different manufacturing process than the vegetable-based carrier oils that are used in aromatherapy. These processes are harsh and they actually strip out much of the useful vitamins, nutrients and fatty acids.
When looking to buy
carrier oils to use in aromatherapy

you need to look for those that have been cold- pressed  This type of process
does not involve heat or chemicals - in other words it is a natural process. This
ensures that the oil retains the fatty acids and other nutrients that are beneficial
   are retained.

Lastly try and use oils that don't have a sticky feel are light. And most
importantly you need to be sure to only use those that have that have little
or no odor. You should especially take notice of this if you intend to dilute the
essential oil with them. These qualities will help the the oils to penetrate the skin
   much more efficiently.

There are many different types of carrier oils suitable for aromatherapy.
Avocado, olive, sunflower, wheat germ, coconut, macadamia, sweet almond,
and grape seed oils are all excellent choices. Which is chosen is very much a
matter of personal preference since each will have different qualities such as
texture color and aroma. Different carrier oils will interact in a different manner
depending on which essential oil it is mixed with. One should also consider the
shelf life and cost of a before making a choice.

You will be guaranteed better results if you research before you go out and
   purchase
